How can I become a Babylove Ambassador?
It’s simple! Just join our facebook group - you will be notified of all future visits and can RSVP. Show up to the site with your healthy keiki and perhaps a toy or two to facilitate interaction. Please remember that you are responsible for your child(ren)’s behavior and safety during the visit.
What do you do?
Think of it as an alternative playdate. Our members (parents and their little ones) meet up at elder-care facilities on Oahu to spread some of the baby love and chaos that are so abundant in our lives. Sometimes our hosts offer a craft or other activity, but usually we just enjoy informal playtime.The elderly residents participate in different ways. Some can hold a baby for a short time, toss around a balloon, sing songs, and converse with older keiki and their parents. Others prefer to sit back and observe the change in scenery. Participants both young and old are prone to spontaneous naps!
My kids are older. Can we still participate?
Sure - the more, the merrier! You know your kids best, and can judge whether this would be a suitable environment for them. Older kids can help watch over the little ones, talk or interact with the elders (by coloring together, for example), or simply be present on the sidelines with a book or other solo activity.
I represent a nursing home, assisted-living facility, or retirement community. How can we get on your hosting roster?
Send us an email and let us know your location, what days/hours are best for visitors, logistical info like parking and sign-in procedures, and anything else you think we should know. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner and set up a first visit! During our visits, we request that host sites do what they can to curb the spread of germs between these two sensitive populations.
This sounds great! How can I get more involved?
In addition to attending events and inviting your friends to join our group, you can consider becoming a Site Leader. Site Leaders set up visits with host facilities, post the event details to our Facebook page, and attend the visits they plan. They are also welcome to bring new host sites onboard - for example, a Site Leader might have an elderly family member at an elder care facility, and therefore wish to bring Babylove Ambassadors there.
